It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Craige Skipwith, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, who left us far too soon on Friday, April 25th, 2025. Richard was born on December 15th, 1989, and spent his life bringing joy and laughter to those around him. He was a cherished resident of Meherrin, VA, where he lived surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his devoted parents, Craige and Tammy Crews Skipwith, of Meherrin, VA, who nurtured and supported him throughout his life. He leaves behind his sister, Amanda Skipwith Dalton, and her husband, Justin, of Clarksville, VA, who shared countless cherished memories with him. Richard was a proud and loving uncle to his nieces, Sadie and Molly, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Robyn Gallion, of Keysville, VA, who was his partner and confidante; and his closest friends, Matthew and Brandon Moiczek.
Richard spent four years pursuing his education at Virginia Commonwealth University. His commitment to serving others led him to a career as a Correctional Officer, where he worked diligently to make a positive impact in his community.
Richard had a passion for gaming of all types, whether it was immersing himself in the latest video games, strategizing in board games, or exploring new worlds through roleplaying games. He found great joy in these activities and loved sharing them with his family and friends. Above all, Richard treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his beloved nieces, who were the light of his life.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held at on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 2:00PM at Meherrin United Methodist Church, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share in the love he brought into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Richard's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
