Richard Smith Obituary
Richard Donald Smith, age 73, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Memorial Mission in Asheville. He was born to the late Alvin and Wilma Edith McKinney Smith, on September 15, 1950, in McDowell County, North Carolina.
Richard lived in McDowell for his entire life. He was the owner of North Cove Ski Rental. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, traveling, buying ginseng and most of all, spending time with his family.
Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Robert (Petey) Smith.
Left to cherish Richard’s memory is his wife, Alma H. Smith; two sons, Scott Smith and Brandon Good; three daughters, Julia Mitchell, Ritchel Smith and Heather Smith; seven grandchildren, Keisha O’Keefe, Kaitlin Smith, Kyle Woodard, Gracie Good, Sadie Good, Bruce Smith and Patrick Smith and two great-grandchildren, Troy and Tucker O’Keefe.
The funeral will be held on, Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service & Crematory, with the Rev. Doug Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Biddix Cemetery.
