Richard Walker Snodgrass of Warsaw, Indiana passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, in the care of Grace Village Rehab in Winona Lake, Indiana at the age of 82.
He was born on November 26, 1942, in Washington, Indiana to Mary Estella (Walker) Snodgrass and David James Snodgrass. On January 30, 1965, he married Linda Ruth Schlag, and they were blessed to have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.
Richard graduated from Warsaw High School in 1961 and earned his BS from Indiana University. He attended multiple post graduate schools of banking. He had an accomplished career in banking from 1969 until retirement in 2006. Richard served as senior vice president of retail banking with First National Bank of Warsaw. He joined the Bank of Geneva in Geneva, Indiana as executive vice president of operations, with over 30 years in community banking and more than 20 years of experience in senior management.
Always active in the communities in which he lived, he was a member and past treasurer of the Center Lake Conservation Association, past president and four-year member of the Warsaw School Board, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, past board president of the Bowen Center and was on the board of the Warsaw Community Development Corporation. Richard was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warsaw where he was an usher and on the finance committee.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Snodgrass (Warsaw, IN); two sons, Richard Matthew "Matt" (Jennifer) Snodgrass (Seymore, IN); Mark Robert (Carmen Danielle) Snodgrass (Waynesboro, VA); and his daughter, Danielle Marie Cripe (Chicago, IL). Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Lauren (Kevin) Jackson; Clair (Caleb) Ray; Arwen, Sebastian, and Beckett Cripe; and Camille and Grant Robert Snodgrass; and his brother, David Louis (Carol) Snodgrass (Roanoke, IN). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Michael Snodgrass.
Friends and family are invited to share a time for the visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. Richard's life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 125 N. Harrison Street, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by mass celebrant Father Jonathan Norton. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service at the church from 9:00- 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
