Richard Henry Socks

Richard Henry Socks, age 98 of Tecumseh passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital. He was born April 13, 1924 in Tecumseh, a son of the late Peter and Nettie (Arnold) Socks. On March 13, 1995 he married Norma Buck and she preceded him in death on September 4, 2014.
Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Tecumseh VFW. He retired from the Tecumseh Products Company after 43 years on May 1, 1989. Richard took pleasure in camping, the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed traveling the country to many 86th Blackhawks Army Reunions. In April he was honored to go on the Talons Out Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
Richard is survived by nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and a grand-nephew, great-grand-niece, cousins and step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and his wife Norma, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Ormand and Glenn.
Visitation for Richard will be 10 am – 11am on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes. Funeral services will follow at 11 am with Rev. George Roig officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Clinton with Military honors under the auspices of the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and VFW Post #4187.
