RICHARD (DICK) "CURLY" SPENCER,
83, of Millington, died peacefully Saturday morning, December 31, 2022. He was born June 20, 1939 in Cass City to Clarence and Florence (Skinner) Spencer, Sr.
Richard attended Cass City High School and left home to work for a Chevrolet plant in California. He returned to Michigan to be with his sick mother. Richard was employed by Sergeant's Construction of Saginaw doing curb and gutter work. Later, he opened his own used car dealership and bump and paint shop, Spencer's Garage. Richard enjoyed restoring his Ford Model A, collecting coins, and selling items at flea markets. He was fond of gambling in casinos, daily lottery, and scratch off tickets. Richard loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren more than anything.
Richard is survived by his children: Laura (Ira) Ewald of Millington, Rose Martin of Chicago, Ill; Richard (Melina) Spencer II of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren: Curtis (Jen) Ewald, Ben (Lisa) Ewald, Billie Jo Taylor, Levi Taylor, Eric Romain, Amy Martin, Marty Sorensen, Holly Brandstetter, Elijah Richardson, Hannah Small, Richard Spencer III, Nicholas Spencer; seventeen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his daughters: Carmen Taylor, Alberta Richardson; brothers: Stanley Spencer, Clarence Spencer, Jr., Gordon Spencer; sister, Mary Gabler.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2023 in Kranz Funeral Home Cass City with Rev. Cindy Myers officiating. Interment in Almer Township Cemetery, Caro. Memorials may be made to Laura Ewald for the Family Discretionary Fund.
Visitation: 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2023 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City
