DONNA MAE SMITH
Donna Mae Smith, 82, of Caro, died Friday, April 25, 2025, in the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility surrounded by her family. She was born March 6, 1943 in Cass City to Howard and Clara (Froede) Berry. She married Larry Donald Smith on October 12, 1963 in Kingston Pilgrim Holiness Church. He died November 13, 2022.
Donna graduated from Kingston High School in 1961. She worked as a bookkeeper for Albert and George Peter at the Kingston Lumber Company and worked for a short time at Woolworth Department Store in Caro. Donna worked for the State of Michigan at the Caro Regional Center, as a resident care aide, and retired following twenty-eight years of service. She liked to cook and bake for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, reading, word-search puzzles, camping, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play their sporting events. Donna also enjoyed tending to her flower beds. Together, she and Larry were awarded a plaque for their longtime dedication to Kingston Athletics. She loved spending time with her family more than anything else.
Donna is survived by her children: Susan Jones of Kingston; Vicki (Robert) Brown of Snover; Larry (Audrey) Smith of Deford; Lori (Larry) McNeil of Caro; Shawn (Ron Nelson) Smith of Kingston; grandchildren: Kristen (J.R.), Nathan, Ashley (Jeremy), Brandon (Lindsay), Megan, Jordan (Autumn), Mitchell, Connor, Colin, Carley (Devin); great-grandchildren: Hunter, Blake, Savannah, Harper, Jhett, Jaxie, Hadley, Cohen; sisters: Carolyn Berry of Caro; JoAnn (Edward) Kreh of Lake; brother-in-law, Dennis Rieck of Caro; sisters-in law: Lorna Krueger of Snover; Diane King of Bay City; Delores Smith of Shoreline, WA; brother-in-law, Terry Smith of Mt. Morris; many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, James Howard; sisters: Norma (Martin) Jaster, Charlotte Rieck; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald (Eva) Smith; brothers-in-law: Leonard Smith, Evans Krueger, Carl King; sister-in-law, Donna Smith.
Funeral service held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025 in Kingston Wesleyan Church with Pastor Len Wyatt officiating. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Kingston Wesleyan Church.
Visitation: 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston
