SPENCER: Richard R. Stamper, Senior., 77, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Sharon M. (Bovaird) Stamper; his children: Richard Stamper, Jr., Michelle Kuszpa and Joseph Stamper and 6 grandchildren who called him Papa: Anthony Kuszpa, Kylie Kuszpa, Tyler Kuszpa, Ryan Kuszpa, Quinn Stamper and Delaney Stamper, that he loves very much.
Richard was born and raised in Worcester the son of the late Robert and Eva (Liljegren) Stamper. where he graduated Burncoat high school. He met and married Sharon, they were to celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary in April, and moved to Spencer to raise their family. Richard has been a drummer since he was a teenager and played in many bands, including Foam. He worked many years as a Security Guard and as a bartender at Maxwell Silverman's working evenings so he could stay at home to be with his children. Family was everything to him.
His children took such wonderful care of their dad the past 13 months as he fought hard against his illness and never once complained. His daughter was determined to keep him home as long as possible and fully delivered that promise and became his caretaker while his son Rich would take him to all his appointments never leaving his side. Richard will be extremely missed and is deeply loved.
Services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's memory may be made to: St. Vincents intensive care unit.
