Richard Gary Swick “Dick”, age 84, passed away peacefully at home November 15, 2023, surrounded by his wife and family. Dick was born in Kimberly on September 17, 1939, to Glen and Anna (Willis) Swick. He married the love of his life, Marjorie (Fiers) Swick “Margie”, on October 25, 1958. They were fortunate to have celebrated their 65th anniversary this year.

Over the 65 years, Dick and Marge welcomed Laurie (Cliff) Adkins, Jim (Pam) Swick, John (Kathy) Swick, Jeff (Amy) Swick, Lana (Scott) Sass, and “Not Me” (who was responsible for any trouble in the house). 16 grandchildren; Jessie (Ryan) Hermus, Abbie (Trent) Koenigs, Lindsey (Erik) VanLysal, Matt (Genessa) Swick, Erin (Andy) Sims, Travis (Rachel) Swick, Summer Swick, Sydney Swick, Sammi Swick, Joel Goerl, Jesse Goerl, Julie Goerl, Lawsen (Hannah) Swick, Tyler (Melissa) Sass, Ashley (Mike) Polzer, and Brittany (Joe) Kellnhofer. Along with 21 great-grandchildren; Sophie, Maddux, Beckett, Kaden, Nolan, Brody, Myles, Maverick, Lucy, Sully, Beau, Fred, Charlie, Theo, Ruby, Caleb, Aubrey, Ethan, Ellie, Julia and Brooks. There is nothing Dick loved more than his family and the large family gatherings. He was so proud of each of his kids, grandkids and great-grandchildren.

Dick worked 36 years with Northwestern Elevator Company, retiring in 1997. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time up north at the cabin in Silver Cliff hunting and fishing, roller skating at Skate City, tinkering in his garage, and attending sporting events of all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents Glen and Anna Swick, and his siblings: Bill Swick, Marilyn (John) Kamps, Pat (Age) Vande Burgt, Butch (Jean) Swick, and Roy Swick (Judy and Jim Gavaert); in-laws John (Margaret) Fiers, John (Bonnie) Fiers, and Mary Pat (Dennis) Yunk; a dear cousin Roger (Corrine) Schroeder, and various other family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Mary Ann Swick, sisters Jacci (Dave) Vandehey, and Jill (Tom) Haufe.

A private family funeral is being planned.

Family was everything to Dick.  Please don’t send flowers – rather cook a family meal, take a family walk, or just plain get together.   All of these things would make Dick happy.

“Don’t worry about the future, the present is all thou hast. The future will soon be present, and the present will soon be past.”
