Richard Joel Tanski

Richard Joel Tanski "Rick", of Garfield Hts., OH. May 29, 1952 – August 8, 2025. Passed away at the young age of 73. Rick was born in Cleveland to the late Theresa Clara (Zaremba) and Joseph Thomas Tanski. Rick graduated from Garfield Hts. High School and then attended Ohio University from 1970-72 where he was a percussionist in the marching band and member of Phi Gamma Delta. Richard is survived by his daughter Michelle Tanski and many friends and loyal customers. He was employed as a salesman his entire career and was best known for his wine knowledge and expertise with Private Reserve Distributors since 2017. Rick was refined, compassionate, sensitive, genuinely honest, and a friend one could always count on. He embraced simplicity in everyday life, yet never hesitated to enjoy moments that called for a little indulgence. His passion was wine and world viticulture's, and many times was asked, "What is the best wine?" "The one you share with friends and family.", was his answer. Rick was an avid Cleveland sports fan and will be watching the Browns with his late son Joe this fall, who died in 2021. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday August 22, 12PM at St. Monica Church, 13623 Rockside Road, Garfield Hts., where family will visit with friends one hour prior to mass. A Celebration of Rick's life will be held Saturday, August 23 from 1-4 PM at Swirl Wine Bar, 33325 Bainbridge Rd., Solon.
