Richard Lee Thompson, the son of Evertt and Helen (Anderson) Thompson, was born March 26, 1954, in Buffalo Center, Iowa. He grew up in Ledyard and graduated with the class of 1972 from Ledyard High School. After high school he started his career at Art's Way in Armstrong, Iowa.
On March 27, 1982, he married Ann McGuire in Las Vagas, NV. Over most of their married life both Ann and Dick delivered Winnebago Motor Homes all over the United States going to coast to coast, which they loved to do together. Dick enjoyed watching and was an avid Green Bay Packers and New York Yankees fan.
Dick passed away in peace on September 13, 2024, at MercyOne Hospital in Mason City, Iowa. He was 70.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Roberta (late husband Mark) Bergquist of Sprit Lake, Tony (Sue) Berte of Lakota; step-grandchildren, Maxwell Bergquist of Spirit Lake, Syd (fiancé Mallory Miler) Bergquist of Elkhart, and Mason (Samantha) Bergquist of Milford, and Wes Bergquist of Elkhart; and four great-grandchildren, Bremer, Aiden, Ella, and Mia. Dick is also survived by sisters, Pat (Randy) Rowan, Nancy Engeman; brother Dennis (Tracey) Thompson; sisters-in-laws, Mary (Reit) McGuire, Carol McGuire, Diane McGuire, Roselee McGuire, Carol McGuire, brother-in-law Michael (Debbie) McGuire, and Ron George, special aunts, Rita Thompson and Janice Winters; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Thompson; his parents; stepson-in-law Mark Bergquist; sister, Cheryl George; brothers-in-law, Bill (Ruth), Don (Verna), Lenord (Cecelia), Mark (Carol), Pat, Ed (Dorothy), Luke, David, Richard McGuire; sisters-in-law Helen (Fred) Bockenstedt and Florence McGuire.

Even though I didn't see Dick very often, he was a good friend. Our sympathy goes out to the family. Our Green Bay Packer talks may be done, but I know he is still cheering them on.
