Richard A. Tyler, 84, of Wheeling, WV passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at WVU Medicine - Wheeling Hospital. Born on May 15, 1941, in Glen Dale, WV to the late Arnold and Ruth (Burley) Tyler.

Richard served in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic. Following his military service, he had a dedicated career as a firefighter with the Wheeling Fire Department.

Although Richard was a quiet man, he had great sense of humor, quick-wit, kind to everyone, and remarkably handy, Richard was a man who valued family above all else. He had enjoyed sports and cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by two sisters, Rosalie McDade and Norma Donzella; and his infant daughter, Caroline Borden Tyler.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Carol Borden Tyler; his daughters, Jane Tyler and Annie (Nicholas) Tyler-Delguyd; and his cherished grandchildren, Sabina "Beanie" and Benjamin. He also leaves behind his sister, June Tyler.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Altmeyer Funeral Home, located at 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.Altmeyerfuneralhomes.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wheeling Fire Department, honoring Richard's legacy of service and dedication.
