Richard Allen Welcher, age 49, of Sheboygan, passed away unexpectedly and tragically on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
Born on September 29, 1975, in Sheboygan, Richard was the beloved son of Frank Junior Lee and Diane Gaye Schroeder Welcher. He attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School before continuing his education at Lakeshore Technical College. On November 30, 1997, Richard married the love of his life, Danielle Allyson Sohre, in a ceremony at her parents home.
A skilled contractor, Rich worked throughout Sheboygan County and held various positions over the years, including time with the Kohler Company. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and cherished time spent at the family cabin, where he enjoyed nature and outdoor activities.
Rich enjoyed sharing his gifts of art, tattooing, and handyman skills with his family and friends as a gesture of his giving nature.
Rich's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by Danielle of Sheboygan; his children, Abram (Cassandra Richter) Welcher of Fayetteville, NC, and Annaliese (Travion James) Welcher of Sheboygan; and his cherished grandsons, Jerome Rossail Royal James-Welcher and Micah Omari Prince James-Welcher, both of Sheboygan. He was also joyfully anticipating the arrival of two granddaughters.
He is also survived by his parents, Frank and Diane Welcher of Sheboygan Falls; siblings, Frank (Bethany) Welcher III of Waldo, Michelle (Rick) Hopland of Sheboygan, and Daniel (Nicole) Welcher of St. Nazianz. Rich will be fondly remembered by Danielle's family, including her father, Daniel (Shirley) Sohre of Cleveland; her siblings, Michael (Eunice) Sohre of Foreston, MN, Pamela Wittneben-Gaines of Hingham, and Melissa (Sherman) Scheidt of Gibbsville.
Rich was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, including Sasha (Nick) Crass, Frank (Andrea) Welcher Jr., Harley (Devon) Buechel, Debbie (Ryan) Wagner, Chase Hopland, Riley (Elizabeth) Hopland, Daniel (Brittney) Welcher Jr., Samantha (Chase) Houseye, Elizabeth (Darren) Devries, Jessica (Ovidiu) Dumea, Nick (Hannah) Sohre, Terrance (Lauren) Sohre, Lydia (Christopher) Jayaputra, Cassandra (Tom) Ongna, Elena (Tom) Ross, Raymond (Cara) Wittneben V, Jacob (Summer) Wittneben, Ethan (Alexis) Wittneben, Amanda (Jensen) Callaway, Gregory (Brittney) Scheidt, Allison Scheidt, Jeremiah Scheidt, and Amy Scheidt. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, great-nieces and nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
Rich was preceded in death by his son, Kyle Lawrence Peter Allan Welcher; his grandparents; his mother-in-law, Marcia Sohre; and his brother-in-law, Leroy Gaines Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan. All who knew and loved Rich are warmly invited to attend and share in remembering his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richard Welcher Memorial.
