Richard Wayne Whitwam, age 78, of the Town of Naples, Buffalo County, passed away on Saturday, November 4 at his home while under the care of Mayo Home Health and Hospice.
He was born in Eau Claire on October 9, 1945, the son of Robert and Margaret (Hrubesch) Whitwam. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Eau Claire and later, attended Holy Rosary Catholic School in Lima.
On August 27, 1965, Richard was united in marriage to Cynthia Trautlein at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eau Claire. To this union, 3 children were born.
Richard worked at various employers throughout his lifetime, none more noteworthy than at National Presto Products, Menards Distribution and Plant Marketing. Richard enjoyed many outdoor activities, such as boating and fishing or waterskiing, small game hunting or just tinkering in his garage.
In his later years, Richard enjoyed farming and raising beef cattle. But mostly, he enjoyed the time he spent with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cindy Whitwam; children, Annette (Dwayne) Sorenson, Daniel Whitwam (significant other, Dena Avery) and Anthony (Brenda) Whitwam; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; four brothers, Bob (Jeanne) Whitwam, Jr., John Whitwam, Rusty Whitwam (significant other, Diane Wyss) and Mike Whitwam (significant other, Colleen Smith); also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his infant sister, Cindy; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Chuck Kolkind and sister in law, Carole Whitwam.
A private family graveside service will be held at Naples Cemetery. A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Sunday, December 3 at 12:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 634 Water Street, Eau Claire, WI.
