Richard Lee Woolwine, 79, husband of Karen White Woolwine, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family.
He was the son of the late Frank N. and Evie Trump Woolwine. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert A. Woolwine; sister, Joyce W. Wall; nephew, Tony A. King; a baby brother, Ralph Woolwine.
Richard was a faithful charter member of New Creation Ministries in Salem where he served the Lord and the members by being a greeter and doing maintenance for 15 years. He was an avid gardener who shared his harvest with church members and friends. A prolific hunter, Richard has several trophy whitetail deer hanging on the den walls. He retired from Kroger Warehouse in Salem after 25 years. For more than 20 of those years he owned and operated his own lawn service with many grateful customers.
He was a generous, hard-working, loyal husband, father, and grandfather who forever lives in our hearts.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Karen White Woolwine, he will be missed and remembered by his children, Melinda McPeak (Steve), Jennifer Hall (Richard Dillon), Richard A. Woolwine (Stacey); grandchildren, Ryan McPeak, Nathaniel Hall, Noah Bruce Hall, Nicolas Jones, Curtis Dillon, Austin Woolwine, and Ashton Dillon; brother, Larry Woolwine (Tamara); sister, Rebecca Warren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends who are left to cherish his memory.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, with Rev. Lee MacIntosh officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
