On September 7, 2025, Karen White Woolwine, 79, of Salem, Virginia, was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Karen lived a life devoted to her faith, her family and her church community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Richard L. Woolwine; her parents Henry and Ruth White; her sister, Faye Goad; and her brother, Steve White. Together, Karen and Richard shared a beautiful example of a Christ-centered marriage.
She is survived by her children, Melinda McPeak (Steve), Jennifer Hall-Dillon (Richard), and Richard Woolwine (Stacey); and her treasured grandsons, Ryan McPeak, Nathaniel Hall, Noah Hall, Nick Jones, Curtis Dillon, Ashton Dillon, and Austin Woolwine, who were the joy of her heart. She also leaves behind her sister, Sandra Howell (Paul); sisters-in-law, Marybeth White of Salem and Rebecca Warren of Williamsburg; brother-in-law Larry Woolwine (Tamara) along with many nieces and nephews.
Karen's love for music was a gift she offered back to the Lord. As a choir director and faithful member of New Creations Ministries in Salem, she poured her heart into worship and encouraged others to lift their voices in praise. Her legacy of faith, song, and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A celebration of Karen's life and faith will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road with Rev. Lee McIntosh officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Simpson Funeral Home.
