He attended school at Andrew Jackson High School for 12 years and Western Michigan University for 4 years. Rickie started teaching after he graduated and ended his teaching career as a middle school social studies and geography teacher for the Hallsville School District from 1985 to 1991. Since that time, he was self-employed as a house sitter, taking care of animals, plants, making sure the houses looked lived in for others until retiring in 2015. He had one of the first pet sitting services in the Columbia area.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, dancing with his wife, listening to music, watching football, especially Notre Dame football, going to movies and watching racing, especially the Indy 500. He was a member of a local motorcycle group.
Rickie is survived by wife, Mary Dolan; stepdaughter, Lesley Anne Stevens; step-son, John Charles Meier; sister, Debara Warren; sister, Melinda Miller. Rickie was preceded by his father, Dale Edwin Dolan in 1983, and his mother, Mary Davis in 2021.

Rickie was a lover of animals, especially cats, big and small. He would likely want anyone who wants to donate to give a donation to the Central Missouri Humane Society, as we adopted most of our pets from them.
