Mr. Richard Wayne Reece Jr., commonly known as Ricky, age 48, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, surrounded by his family at home. He was born on May 28, 1976, in Hahira, Georgia, the son of Richard Wayne Reece Sr. and Faye Wynelle Sutton Reece.
Ricky was a devoted husband, proud father, and cherished friend, who passed away after a brave two-and-a-half-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). His resilience and determination inspired everyone around him, leaving a legacy of courage, love, and strength.
A family man through and through, Ricky's world revolved around his beloved wife, Kristy, and his adored daughters, Sydney, Allie, Karoline, who were the light of his life. He took immense pride in their accomplishments, treasured every moment spent with them, and loved nothing more than cheering them on, both on and off the softball field or volleyball court. As a girls' softball coach for many years, Ricky poured his heart into mentoring and supporting not only his daughters but countless others, creating a lasting impact on their lives.
Ricky found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was casting a line on a fishing trip, relaxing with his ass in the sand on the beach, perfecting his golf swing, or rooting passionately for his favorite teamsthe Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Falcons. Every game day was an event, shared with his family, full of laughter, excitement, and unforgettable memories.
A true craftsman, Ricky loved working with his hands and took pride in projects around his home. From building his own deck to crafting beautiful cabinetry and shelves, his handiwork reflected his meticulous attention to detail and creativity. He also enjoyed tending to his yard, finding peace and satisfaction in being outdoors. Rickys grilling skills were legendary. His beer can chicken was a family favorite, often paired with laughter and stories shared around the dinner table.
Ricky exemplified what it means to live fully and fight fiercely. He leaves behind his wife, Kristy Montgomery Reece; his treasured daughters, Sydney (Brannon) Coble, Allie Reece, and Karoline Montgomery; his beloved cats, Ellie and Daisy; his parents, Rick and Faye Reece; brothers, Randy (Charlotte) Sewell and Darrin (Gina) Sewell; as well as a wide circle of extended family and friends.
A service to honor and celebrate Rickys life will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, beginning 3:00 PM in the West Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. The family will host a time to receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
