Ricky Daniel Shipp

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Ricky Daniel Shipp, who died peacefully on November 19, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on May 19, 1954, in Austell, Georgia, Ricky lived a life shaped by hard work, simple joys, and deep love for the people around him.
Ricky was a devoted husband to his wife, Cathy, and the two shared a partnership built on loyalty, laughter, and everyday moments that mattered most. He was a steady and loving husband, someone his family and friends could depend on, someone who showed up, listened, and quietly supported the people he loved.
Ricky worked for Lowe's for 20 years, retiring as a manager, but his favorite place was always the outdoors. He found peace in the things many overlook: a walk on the beach, the sound of waves coming in, the warmth of the sun at the end of the day. At home, he loved tending to his garden and watching things grow under his care. Whether he was watching birds in the yard or spending time in nature, Ricky appreciated life in a steady, genuine way.
Those who knew him will remember his easygoing spirit, his kindness, and the way he made people feel welcomed and understood. He didn't need big gestures. His love was shown in small, thoughtful ways, and that is what his family will hold onto most.
Ricky leaves behind his wife, Cathy Green Shipp; daughters, Cindy and Jennifer; stepdaughter, Dana Lovvorn; sisters, Debbie Murphy and Linda Womack; brother, Randy Shipp; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great pride and joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvine Shipp and Margie Gamel Shipp Rainey.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Carroll Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will include Cole Lovvorn, Camden Sanders, Jacob Lewis, Jacob McClung, Brent Womack, Bryce Womack, and Alex Bilbrey. The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.
Ricky leaves behind a legacy of love, quiet strength, and appreciation for the simple blessings in life. His family and friends will forever remember the calm presence he brought into their lives.
