Ricky O'Brien Silvia, 55, passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, after a long and courageous battle with heart and kidney disease. Surrounded by his loving family, Ricky took the Lord's hand and entered Heaven with grace and peace.
Born on September 21, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Bloom Carroll High School in the class of 1987, where he proudly played drums for both the marching and concert bands. His love for music began early and remained a constant throughout his life.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Ricky became an electrician and went on to own and operate ROS Electric Company with the help of his father. His dedication to his craft and commitment to excellence earned him respect among peers and clients alike.
Ricky also served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Greenfield Township Fire Department alongside his brothers. His sense of duty extended beyond work and service-he was also a proud member of the United States Navy.
Faith played a central role in Ricky's life. He was an active participant in a Christian motorcycle club and regularly attended men's prayer breakfasts. His spiritual strength was evident to all who knew him.
Ricky had a wide range of interests that brought joy to both himself and those around him. A devoted fan of John Wayne films, he never passed up an opportunity to watch a good western. He also had a deep appreciation for science fiction and fantasy, enjoying classics such as Star Trek, Doctor Who, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars.
His musical tastes were as eclectic as they were passionate-ranging from Styx, Queen, Rush, and Phil Collins to '90s country hits. On beautiful days, Ricky could often be found cruising on his Gold Wing motorcycle or casting a line while fishing with family-a cherished tradition shared by many in the Silvia family.
Ricky loved games that challenged the mind and brought people together. Whether it was cards, chess, or especially cribbage, he was always ready for friendly competition.
He was the beloved son of David Silvia and Roberta (Elliott) Silvia, who provided him with a foundation of unwavering support and care. Ricky shared a close bond with his siblings: Victor (Vicki) Silvia, Fred (Debbie) Silvia, and Becki (Jason – fiancé) Silvia. His family was a central part of his life, and their connection remained strong through every chapter.
Above all else, Ricky found his greatest joy in being a father. His children, Kaitlyn Silvia and Noah Silvia, were the pride of his life. He poured his heart into fatherhood and took immense pride in watching them grow.
Ricky was preceded in death by grandparents, Noah and Madge Silvia, as well as Gene and Fauntelle Elliott-each of whom played a meaningful role in shaping Ricky's early years. He is also preceded in death by many beloved family members who held a special place in his life.
