Ricky Gene Tacker, a retired Towboat Tankerman, passed away on June 24, 2023, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri at the age of 65.
He was born on January 20, 1958, in Shelby, MS, the son of the late Arthur Russell and Louise Gilbert Tacker.
Ricky was known for his dedication to his work and his unwavering love for his family and friends. Throughout his career as a Tankerman, Ricky showed immense commitment and professionalism. He worked diligently on towboats, contributing to the smooth operation of the vessels. His expertise and devotion earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
When he wasn't working, Ricky devoted himself wholeheartedly to his loved ones. His granddaughter, Calla Rose Colona of Prairieville, LA, was the light of his life. Ricky cherished every moment spent with her and created countless memories that will forever be treasured by those who knew him.
Ricky's warm heart and caring nature extended beyond his immediate family. He had a close-knit bond with his fiance' Yvette McLevein of Jackson, TN. Their love for each other was evident to all who witnessed their relationship.
Ricky Gene Tacker leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He will be greatly missed by those closest to him. Among the surviving family members are brothers, Milton Tacker and wife Delois of Jackson, TN; Randy Tacker and wife Helen of Jackson, TN and Cary Lane Tacker.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Malcolm Tacker and Christopher Tacker and his daughter, Cheramie Tacker and two brothers, Donnie Ray Tacker and Ronnie Tacker.
To honor Ricky's memory, a Memorial Gathering will be held on July 1, 2023. The gathering will take place at Arrington Funeral Directors and Crematory located at 148 W University Pkwy in Jackson, TN. The event is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 1:00 PM.
During this time of grief, let us remember the joy Ricky Gene Tacker brought into our lives. His kind and loving spirit will forever remain in our hearts. May his soul find eternal peace.
