Coats, NC: Mr. Riley "Devon" Moore, age 75 of Coats, lost his battle with congestive heart failure on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Graveside Services will be 4:00PM Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Red Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, 5355 Red Hill Church Road, Coats, NC 27521 where he will be laid to rest beside his parents. Officiating will be Rev. Jimmy Newkirk.
Devon was born in Harnett County to the late Riley and Verdie Moore and was preceded in death by his six siblings. He had a heritage of family farming and hard work was a daily routine for him. Devon graduated with the Coats High School Class of 1965. He loved the Coats area and was proud to call it home his entire life. Devon retired from the Division of Prisons after 20 years. He was very proud of the business that he shared with his wife, Moore's Storage Buildings. Devon spent his retirement years running that business and selling many buildings to this community. Devon's family rejoices that recently he came to know Christ as his personal Savior.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Hope Layton Moore, his children, Angela Dillard (Gerald), Lori Langdon (Mark), Don Moore (Laura), Tracy Mitchell (Scot), and Billy O'Shields as well as his grandchildren, Nathan Langdon (Tori), Anna, Caleb, Angel, Sarah, Kendra Langdon, Ashley Hodges, Olivia Moore, Ethan Mitchell, as well as great-grandchildren, Elowyn and Rowan Langdon; his brother-in-law, Ricky Layton, and many nieces and nephews.
