Rio Lester Sprague of Wicomico Church, age 78, passed away on March 30, 2025. Rio was born in Richmond, Virginia to Lillian Edenfield Lester and Charles George Lester (step-daughter of Bill Watson). She was the beloved wife of Norman Lee Sprague for 60 years. She was a devoted sister to Jack Alger (deceased), Charles, Jr., Fleta, Rodney, and Tammy (deceased). She was preceded in death by her cherished son Jack "Jody" Lester Sprague. Along with her loving husband, she is survived by her daughter Dana Welch (husband Alan) and daughter-in-law Georgia Sprague. She leaves behind six grandchildren: Ashly, Justin, Emily, Matthew, Shelby and Brody. She also leaves four great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.
Rio had a varied and storied work history. Norman and Rio built their life together at their grocery, Sprague's Market, in Wicomico Church. She became the manager at Food Lion and later worked at the local bank and vineyard. Wherever Rio went she left an impression in her wake and will be missed by her many friends and family. She was a member of Mila Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mila Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Mila Methodist Church in Mila, Virginia.
