Rita Jo (Hambidge) Adam died at home on February 5th, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. She was diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to both her liver and skeletal structure.
Rita was born September 29th, 1958, the daughter of Don and Carol Jean Hambidge. Living on the family farm, she completed school in Arapahoe, NE. During this time, she was an active member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Graduating from high school in 1977, Rita enrolled in Kearny State College that fall and graduated with Credits from Kansas State University and the University of Arizona with a degree in Criminal Justice. She spent her career as a Court Services Officer and retired after 39 years of service to the state of Kansas in June of 2019. Rita was a member of the Kansas Association of Court Services Officers, a lifelong member of P.E.O., and the Arapahoe Methodist Church.
On the 10th of May, 1980, Rita Hambidge and Donald Adam were united in marriage. A blessed family life began. Two children were born and raised, Andrew W. Adam and Haley S. Adam.
Rita was loved beyond measure. She is survived by her husband, Donald W. Adam, her children, Andrew (Emily), Haley (Sean), and a beloved grandson, William. Her kind, fun-loving nature made her a friend to all she met. She got great joy out of pranking her children on a regular basis and spent her retirement traveling and visiting friends and family members. We were blessed by the light of Rita’s life and the joy and love she brought to all of ours.

Rita and I worked together for over 30 years. I am so sorry for her family, this must have been devastating. Rita was a wonderful, delightful person, loved by all. She will be terrribly missed.

My sincere condolences. Rita always met me with a smile. She was a wonderful member of the Oskaloosa Public Library and Library Board.
