LOWVILLE – Rita I. Berrus, 92, of Lowville, formerly of Constableville, passed away at Lewis County General Hospital on August 6, 2024.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Turin Cemetery with her nephew, Donald Arthur officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lewis County Search and Rescue 7782 W. State Street, Lowville, NY 13367. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc. 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, NY 13367.
Rita is survived by her children; Robert Niblett Jr., Nancy and Doug Woolery of Tulsa, OK; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond "Jack" Berrus; a daughter Deborah A. and Brian J. Ripp; and her siblings.
Rita was born April 15, 1932 in Gunn's Corners, a daughter of the late Edward and Lucy Madison Jarvis. She grew up in Lowville and later married Raymond "Jack" Berrus on May 23, 1970 on Mohawk Hill, with Justice Harold Hayes officiating. She was a homemaker for several years before becoming a CNA and working at Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville, where she retired from in 1988. Jack passed away on March 31, 2020.
Rita enjoyed knitting, baking, and above all, family visits.
