Rita M. Bryant passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 18, 2025 while on vacation in the Virginia mountains. Rita was born on January 21, 1953 to Maggie Futrell Bryant and James Henry Bryant, and her brother James Elton Bryant in The Chestine Futrell family homeplace located in Northampton County, NC.

Rita grew up surrounded by family in the Ashley's Grove Community. As a young girl she accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour in Ashley's Grove Baptist Church where she remained a lifetime member. She attended Woodland Olney Elementary and graduated from NCHS.

Rita began working when she was 14 after school and on weekends. She was very independent and determined to earn her way. Rita enjoyed lots of career opportunities along her life path, however choosing to be a mother was the one she was most proud. Her sons were her joy, and her grandson was her sunshine. Rita loved all things old and collected quite a few. She enjoyed talking about and listening to the Good Ole Day Stories. She loved her yardwork, her flowers, art, and photography.

Rita retired from banking after being employed for 34 years and holding many different positions, during which time she made many friends and continued to enjoy those friendships throughout her life. She served as a Board member for 10 years with the Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce and was employed part time with The Edward Jones Financial Team in Murfreesboro.

Rita is predeceased by her parents, and her brother, James Elton Bryant. She leaves her two sons, C. Shayne Britton, and Kyle S. Britton, her grandson, Matthew S. Britton, her brother, Danny L. Bryant and his wife Wendy, Kyle's friend, Stephanie Weaver, her niece, Erica B. Slaughter (Jason), Makenzie and Hannah Slaughter, her nephews, Ethan Bryant and James Bryant, Jr., along with many close friends and cousins.

Rita requested her body lay in the room at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Murfreesboro, NC where her parents and grandparents lay before her. A walk through viewing will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Her Remembrance Service will be held at Ashley's Grove Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, NC on Sunday afternoon, September 28, 2025 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Ken Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
