RITA L. CHANEY
1946 - 2024
Rita Louise Chaney; Age 78 of Ecorse, Michigan was born on May 15, 1946 at Wyandotte Hospital to Marion and Mary Chaney (nee: Nightingale). Rita took her last breath, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, in the comfort of her home in Ecorse.
She is survived by 2 loving sisters, Judy West & Mary Chaney, who were beside Rita during her final days, and also her caring brother Charles Lee Chaney. Rita has 3 nephews, Eric, Tom & Mark, and 2 nieces, Dianna & Kathleen. She is also survived by a total of 14 great nieces & nephews and 13 great-great nieces & nephews. Rita was greeted in heaven by her parents, Marion and Mary Chaney, and her brother, Marion Thomas "Tom" Chaney Jr.
Rita was a loving, caring, generous woman who spent a lot of time tending to her perfect lawn & flower beds. Usually hours at a time. She also has a garage full of tools & gadgets, because she could fix anything. Rita grew up with a pentecostal background & made sure to watch Reverend Jimmy Swaggart every weekend in her living room. We are all thankful to have had Rita on this Earth for 78 years and are saddened to see her leave us, but are rejoicing in her healing.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Ballheim Chapel of Simple Funerals, 4120 W. Jefferson Avenue, Ecorse, Michigan 48229.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, 10:30 am at the Ballheim Chapel of SIMPLE FUNERALS in Ecorse, Michigan, with her grand niece, Megan B. Mendenhall officiating.
Burial will take place in the Ferndale Cemetery in Riverview, Michigan.
