Rita was born on May 22, 1935 in Barstow, TX, the daughter of Marino and Narcia (Garcia) Rico. She attended school in Barstow and later went on to earn her GED.
Rita worked as a dietitian for several years at hospitals and nursing homes in Colorado and worked for Campbell Soup Company in Omaha, NE until her retirement in 1991.
On September 24, 2004, she was united in marriage to Troy Dawson in Odessa, TX. Rita was a Catholic in the Christian faith who loved spending time with her family, fishing, hunting, being outdoors, and traveling.
Rita is survived by her beloved husband of the home, Troy; one daughter, Judy Monore and her husband Pete of Woodsboro, TX; two grandchildren, Dustin and Amber; three great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Samona Villalobos and her husband Phillipi of Pecos, TX, Alisha Fuentes of Odessa, TX, and Frank Rico and his wife Juanita of Barstow, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marino and Narcia; one son, Joe Fitzgerald; one brother; one sister; and her husband, Jerry Fitzgerald.
Arrangements under the direction of Breshears Memorial Chapels.
