Rita K. DiFiore

Rita K. DiFiore (Thompson), age 83, a resident of Mokena, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5th, 2023 at home with loved ones by her side. She was born in Chicago on May 4th, 1939.
Loving wife of Vincent L. DiFiore; beloved mother of Vincent (Patricia), Judy (Byron Danley), Linda (Lewis Carrozza), Christopher, Christina (Michael Klement), Jack (Michelle) and Ken (Amy).
Cherished grandmother of Michael DiFiore, Matthew DiFiore, Robert DiFiore, Elizabeth Danley, Olivia Danley, Jennifer Brummond, Mary Pogioli, Eva Gonzalez, Edward Chalupa, Melanie Chalupa, Rita Sangrey, Jessica DiFiore, Christopher DiFiore, James DiFiore, Emma DiFiore, Nathan DiFiore, Lucinda DiFiore and Franklin DiFiore.
Proud great grandmother of Dominic, Justine, Alexander, Jaxon, Benjamin, Freya, Connie, Juniper, Abigail, and Eloise.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Pauline Thompson, brother James Thompson and great grandson Antonio.
Rita's life until the day she was married in 1959 was spent at 99th and Avenue J, her backyard was Calumet Park hard on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan, she was an honor roll student at St. Francis de Sales High School, and met Vincent at a Mount Carmel HS dance in 1956 and in 1957 they became steady boyfriend and girlfriend, they married-on February 7th 1959; from that point on Rita spent her life being a nurturing mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Rita enjoyed cooking large family meals that were not only relished by her children but also friends of her kids, and outside of the home she loved going out to dinner with family and friends, traveling, nature, and snowmobiling.
A memorial visitation will be held at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort IL 60423 on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM with a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
