Rita M. Hay

SHREWSBURY- Rita M. (Trainor) Hay, 89, formerly of 36 North Quinsigamond Avenue, and Vinnie Way, Shrewsbury passed away on Tuesday, June 14th in the Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Nursing Home in Worcester.

Her husband of 43 years, John L. Hay died in 1988. She leaves a son, John A. Hay of South Windsor, CT; two daughters, Mary Freddie and her husband, Rudy, of Shrewsbury and Rita Ann Dzindolet, and her husband, Anthony, of Leicester; a brother, Richard Trainor of Worcester; a sister, Patricia Bazinet of East Douglas; also survived by 5 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Trainor.

Rita was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Arthur A. and Anna (Collins) Trainor and had lived in Shrewsbury for 60 years. She graduated from Classical High School in Worcester. In her younger years she had worked as a typist at Reed-Prentice in Worcester.

Mrs. Hay was a long time member of Saint Anne’s Parish in Shrewsbury where she was active in its women’s league and the Golden Age Club. She also enjoyed spending time at the Shrewsbury Senior Center and loved to bake.

Family and friends are invited to visit with Rita’s family on Thursday, June 16th from 5-8 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A funeral Mass for Rita will be celebrated on Friday, June 17th at 10 A.M. in Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury with her nephew, Reverend Richard F. Trainor being the principal celebrant. Burial will take place in the family lot in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
