Rita May Hughes

Rita May Hughes, age 82, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at home. She was born on December 24, 1942, in Trousdale, Oklahoma, to the late Virgil Harp and Ruby (Elkins) Harp.
On January 13, 1962, she married Donald Robert Hughes in Del City, Oklahoma. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
Rita was born and raised in Oklahoma. She loved nature and living in the country. In her younger years, Rita was a track star in high school and loved roller skating, which is where she met her future husband, Don.
Rita loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting. Rita was a hard-working woman and an outstanding homemaker. She will be forever loved and missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Don; son, Glenn Hughes; daughter, Christine Lehman and her husband, David Lehman; son, David Hughes; grandchildren, Jasique Hughes, Joshua Hughes, Tarra Hughes, Colten Lambdin; Keith Hughes, Kaylah Hughes, Kyler Hughes, and Keigan Hughes; and five great-grandchildren.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Ruby Harp; brothers, Allen Harp and Larry Harp; sister, Martha Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Lavada Harp.
A Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Oak Grove Cemetery, 334 S. Sandusky Street, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Arrangements entrusted to Snyder Funeral Center, Delaware Chapel.
