I remember Rita as a lovely woman who had a house full of kids and never minded having me stay over once they all moved from South Buffalo to North Collins. I consider Nancy one of my dearest friends and although we don't talk often we have lives that have been woven together time after time. Al was a driving force when he was home and would often say "Awe Rita" or "Awe Nancy" when the trash would fall over or someone would let a stray dog in the door. Both strong, yet gentle women (mother and daughter) would look over at me and smile just a little, as if to say - that's just Al. Once Rita spoke up at the dinner table and said "Al lower your voice your scaring Aileen." Ever present, ever caring, ever Rita. I know she will be missed, by more people than we can imagine. Love to the family. Aileen

Dear Family and Friends of Rita:
I was surprised and saddened to read of Rita's passing in today's Buffalo News, and immediately phoned my mother at her nursing home to tell her.
My fondest memories of Rita were visiting her home more than 50 years ago as a pre-teen with my cousins and her children. I thought she was pretty, with that smile and twinkle in her eye. She was very warm and hospitable to me, and frequently made us kids a snack. Life seemed more kind and simple in those days. Rita was always nice and pleasant when I saw her later in life. Her photo in the news shows features that remained with her as she matured.
I hope and pray that Rita now gets to see her adorable and wonderful daughter, Mary Ellen, who was taken from her (and us) at too young an age, and all her loved ones who went before. To Donna, and the rest of Rita's family and close friends, please accept my condolences, fond thoughts, and heart-felt prayers at your moment of sorrow.
I will light a candle in her memory at St. Joseph's Cathedral.
Respectfully yours,
Rich Taczkowski
