Rita "Pat" McGuinness, age 97, of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
Pat was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Frank and Ursula Fitzsimons, and has been a resident of Mt. Laurel for 65 years in the home she and her husband built together. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and worked as a nurse in the local hospitals for over 50 years before her retirement. In her free time, Pat enjoyed reading, birdwatching, and keeping print newspapers in business. But above all else, she loved to spend time with her family.
Pat is predeceased by her husband, Daniel P. McGuinness; and four of her siblings.
She is survived by her children, Michael McGuinness (Liz), Jeanette McGuinness, Kathleen Cipollone (John), Marilyn McGuinness (Inna), and Lora McGuinness; her brother, Glenn Fitzsimons; grandchildren, Matt, Andy, Rachel (Kris), Dan (Chrissy), Tony, and Erika (Mike); and great-grandchildren, Dana and Taryn; and Penny, the "best dog ever".
Burial is private, but family and friends are invited to Pat's backyard for a traditional McGuinness picnic on Thursday, August 15th at 1 PM to celebrate and remember the wonderful person she was.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
