Rita Theresa (Simons) Plaster was born January 10th, 1927 in Stewart, MN to Arthur and Cecelia (Krippner) Simons. She was baptized on January 16th, 1927.She attended school until the 8th grade, when she was needed by her family on the farm. At the age of 17 she traveled to Minneapolis/ St. Paul to find work. She held a few jobs during her time in the cities, from nannying to Northwest Airlines to Daytons. Rita met Darold by chance while they were both living in Minneapolis. They were united in marriage on November 26th, 1949 at the Basilica of St. Mary. The couple was blessed with 4 children and resided in Brooklyn Center until moving to Brandon in June of 1971. While in Brandon, Rita worked as a cook for the school, she also cooked and waitressed at a few of the local establishments. In her spare time Rita enjoyed knitting, baking, taking in shows and music with Darold. Among many other things she was a talented quilter and creator. She also made time for card club, Red Hatters, Auxiliary, coffee with friends and spent many hours volunteering. Rita died January 1st, 2024 at Bethany Home, surrounded by family. She was survived by her children Suzanne of North St. Paul, James (Jolene) of Alexandria, John (Deb) of Evansville, Mary Elizabeth (DeWayne) Prasnicki of Sartell; Grandchildren Jessica (Michael) Skogberg, Jillian (Cornet Jr) Plaster-Pollard, Tyler Prasnicki, Cody (Rebekah) Prasnicki, Shannon Prasnicki, Lynette (Justin) Perreault, LeAnn (Joe) Reznicek; Great grandchildren Cameron and Dakotah Skogberg, Olivia and Rainna Plaster-Pollard, Iris, Lyla, Jude and Eton Perreault, Willow and Harrison Reznicek. Sisters Adelene Sharratt of Bloomington, Mary Ellen Kloeckl of Gaylord; Sister-in-law Patti Simons of Glencoe, In laws Dean (Ruth) Plaster of Brandon, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Rita preceded in death by her beloved husband Darold (d: 10/2013), Granddaughter Cheyenne Prasnicki, Sister Delores Ricki, Brothers Jim and Dan Simons, Sister-in-law Mavis, Brothers in law Roger Klochl, Elwood Sharratt, Arnold Ricki and Virgil Plaster.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home with a Parish Prayer Service at 4:00 PM and a Rosary to follow. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 5, 2024, 10:00 - 11:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Brandon with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Ann's Cemetery.
