Rita Wherry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory on Dec. 1, 2025.
Rita Kaye Wherry, age 82, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 27, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She was born on March 16, 1943, in Spring Valley, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert Arthur Badgley and Julia Ellen (Beal) Schmidt.
Rita was a devoted mother and grandmother whose life was centered around care for others. She worked for nine years at Sweller Tool and Die, helping manufacture pistons for General Motors vehicles. Through her work, she demonstrated reliability, dedication, and a strong work ethic.
Rita found happiness in the simple things-preparing meals for those she loved, enjoying her time at home, and shopping from her television. Nothing brought her more joy than time spent with her family. She deeply cherished her children and grandchildren, and her home was often filled with love, conversation, and warmth. Her dogs were also treasured companions and brought her constant comfort.
Rita will be remembered for her gentle heart, her steady presence, and the unconditional love she gave to her family. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Rita is survived by her two daughters, Jacque Kaye (Jan Gardner) Wherry of Hillsboro and Samantha Wherry of Beavercreek; grandchildren, Frederick Wherry Gardner, Skylyn Kaye Gardner, Amber Hall, Justin Hall, Trevor Hall, Cory Hall, Ryen Carter, Kristen Kaye Sorah, and Zach Sorah; great grandchildren, Collin, Sam, Anthony Wherry Gardner, Jacob McCann, Lincoln McCann, Tallen, Lucas, and several other loved great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Hall; her beloved dog, Lolly Dog and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Max Wherry in 2012; a son, Tim Hall in 2025; a brother, James Badgley in 2012, and a sister, Susie Purnell.
Private graveside services will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Bowersville at the convenience of the family. The Turner & Son Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
