Robert Lanphear Adams passed away December 23, 2025 in Saint Andrews Bay Nursing Home,
Panama City, FL.
He was born June 14, 1942 in
Jersey City, NJ, the son of John J. and Ethel (Machamer) Adams. His father passed away when he was a child and the remainder of his youth was spent in his mother's hometown of
Lykens, PA.
He was a 1960 graduate of the Patton Masonic School in
Elizabethtown, PA. He then attended the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in
Lancaster, PA. What followed was many years of coursework and certifications in numerous disciplines including: surveying, fortran programming, engineering soils technology, and electronic instrumentation to name a very, very few of his academic accomplishments.
From Black+Decker through the 1960s, Radio Shack management in the 1970s, to a geotechnical engineer for Kidde Construction in the 1980s, to a prototype machinist at the Naval Sea Systems Command in the 1990s – his resume was as varied and eclectic as he was.
In 1998, he found his happy place in
Wewahitchka, FL where he spent his remaining years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed libraries, old westerns, gardening, fly fishing, watching the wildlife and "tinkering". His musical taste ran from Little Feet to Rachmaninoff. He rooted for Penn State and the Washington Redskins, never missed watching a golf tournament, and had a certain affection for Michigan J. Frog.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Tasha Nicole Price.
He is survived by his family in Pennsylvania. Daughters: Denise Price (Charles Carroll) of Northumberland; Stephanie Sterner (William) of Sunbury. Grandchildren: Cary Feltman (Nicole) of White Oak; Lenore Sterner of Northumberland; Ian Sterner of Sunbury; Casey Price of Baldwin. Great-grandchildren: Layla and Orion Bostian of Northumberland.
Services will be held at a later date and he will be interred with his parents in Paxtang, PA.
