Robert Alexander Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rose Funeral & Cremation - Mann on Dec. 29, 2025.
Robert Samuel "Bob" Alexander, age 87, passed away peacefully Monday, December 22, 2025. He was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN, attended East Lake Elementary and Junior High School and graduated from Chattanooga Central High School (class of 1957). Throughout middle and high school, he was a standout athlete in both football and track and field.

As a college student, Bob served his country in the Tennessee and Alabama Army National Guard and worked his way through school. He graduated from Samford University with a professional degree in Pharmacy. "Dr. Bob," as his customers came to know him, practiced pharmacy in Arizona and Tennessee. He spent 32 years with K-mart, working as a pharmacist and ascending to the role of district manager, where he opened stores and hired new pharmacists all over the country. After his career, he enjoyed moonlighting as a registered pharmacist at Tinsley Bible in Dandridge, TN, and Farragut Pharmacy before retiring for good in 2015.

Bob cherished time with family and friends and loved to hunt, reload ammunition, fish, hike, camp, and ride dirt bikes. He enjoyed sharing stories of his adventures with anyone who would listen, especially a once-in-a-lifetime African safari that he remembered fondly throughout his life.

He served as an elder at Farragut Presbyterian Church and for years served on the board of the Bachman Home for Boys in Cleveland, TN. He also enjoyed mentoring countless new pharmacists over his career.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse, Sr. and Ruby Alexander of Chattanooga and son Mark (Nancy) Alexander. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy Alexander of Knoxville, brothers Jesse, Jr. (Kay) Alexander of Hixson, Ronald (Linda) Alexander of Valley Head, AL, sister Sandra "Ginger" (David) Vineyard of Dickson and daughters Deborah (Mike) Bare of Niota, Jennifer (Randy) Johnsey of Powell, Heather (Bert) Robinson of Knoxville, Amy (Joel) Cipriano of Denver, NC, and grandchildren Wesley, Jordan, Adria, Brook, Hannah, Katlyn, Alex, Molly, Charlie, Ben, and Lydia.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, at Farragut Presbyterian Church before a celebration of life at 12:00 p.m. A graveside service at Oak Ridge Memorial Park will follow.
