Robert James Allen, known affectionately as Bob to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 95. Born on February 21, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, Bob's life was a tapestry of dedication, humor, and love.
Bob's journey began in the bustling streets of Brooklyn, where he grew up imbued with the spirited energy of the city. His academic pursuits led him to Pace College in New York, where he laid the foundation for a successful career. Bob proudly served his country as an Army veteran, a period of his life that shaped much of his character and values.
After his military service, Bob embarked on a career as a systems analyst, eventually retiring from CSC. His work was marked by a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Bob's personal life was as rich and fulfilling as his professional endeavors. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Mary Allen (née Durner), and a guiding light to his children, Robert Jr. (Paula) Allen, James Allen, and stepson Patrick (Becky) Williams. Though he was preceded in death by his daughter, Marie (Allen) Costanzo, stepson Darren Johnson, grandson Adam Auten, and great-grandsons Colt, Dominic, and Cash Turkin, his legacy continues through his 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish his memory.
Bob's interests and hobbies painted the picture of a man who loved to engage with the world around him. An avid jokester, he never missed an opportunity to share laughter with those around him. His passion for woodworking was not just a pastime but a form of expression, creating pieces that reflected his precision and care.
A man of faith, Bob was a long-standing member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he found solace and community. His involvement in the church was a testament to his belief in compassion and service to others.
Those who knew Bob would describe him as funny and loving-a man whose warmth and humor could light up any room. His presence was a comfort, his laughter a melody, and his love a beacon for his family.
Bob's life was a journey of joy, challenges, and triumphs. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we celebrate the indelible mark he has left on the hearts of all who knew him. His spirit, characterized by humor and love, will continue to inspire and guide us. Bob's story may have reached its conclusion, but his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the memories he created.
Rest in peace, dear Bob, your laughter will echo in our hearts forever.
