Robert Allgaier Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Purdy Memorial Chapel - Lee on Feb. 5, 2024.
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Robert Alan Allgaier (Bob) on February 3, 2024. Bob was born in Nashua, NH and grew up tearing up the streets of Merrimack, NH.
Bob was predeceased by his parents William and Florence (Collier) Allgaier, his brother William Allgaier of North Carolina, and the love of his life, his wife Betty Jane (Thompson) Allgaier.
He is survived by his daughter Amy (Allgaier) Howard and her husband Brian of Somersworth, NH, his sister Carol (Allgaier) Kenway and his niece Petra (Skapa) Adams, both of Victoria, BC, Canada, his sister-in-law Toni Thompson of Merrimack, NH, his sister-in-law Diane (Howe) Allgaier of Goldsboro, NC, and his nieces Jennifer Allgaier of Florida, and Deborah Allgaier of NC. Additionally, Bob is loved by his cousins Cathy (Allgaier) Stavenger and her husband Paul, Dawn (Allgaier) Eisenhauer and her husband Doug, Anne Allgaier of Merrimack, NH, Lynne (Allgaier) Pooler of Goffstown, NH, and all of their children: Bob's goddaughter Jennifer (Stavenger) Laroche, Jeffrey Stavenger, Sarah Eisenhauer, David Eisenhauer, Michael Pooler, Katie Pooler, and Cameron Pooler. And of course, his grand puppy, Max- Bob would be livid if he was left off this list!
Bob was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War, and served the majority of his tenure in Germany. He was proud of his service, and has shared many stories from his time of service, but knowing Bob, none are fit to print!
Professionally, Bob became a titan of the solid waste industry in New England, building the largest, independently-owned solid waste and recycling company in the state of NH. He was respected and loved by co-workers and competitors alike, because he was always one to help others. Whether that meant creating a position for a longtime employee who could no longer keep up with the physical demands of his job, or using his connections to help a competitor who didn't have the resources he did, Bob prided himself on doing what was right by people, knowing that would ultimately result in being right for the business as well.
Bob had many passions in life; most know of his love of motorcycles. In the summer months you would find him cruising the state on one of his meticulously-maintained, chromed-to-the-hilt custom Harleys. He'd put more miles on his bike in a summer than many people put on their cars in a year!
Bob also loved music; in his heyday you could find him at one of many bars in downtown Manchester dancing the night away to a local band, making sure everyone around him was having a good time. That was Bob – He was a friend to everyone, and if you were in his presence, you were going to have fun.
More than anything else, Bob was known for his generosity; he would never hesitate to help anyone he considered friend or family. He loved with all of his heart; if you were important to him, you knew it, and if you were fortunate enough to be in his life, you were grateful. He will be missed beyond words, but will be remembered in the retelling of the many many funny stories of Bob.
A celebration of Bob will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Purdy Memorial Chapel, 2 Concord Road (Rte. 4), Lee, NH 03824. Visiting Hour 3:00pm-4:00pm, celebration 4:00pm-5:00pm, a reception to follow downstairs in the functional hall.
We will be honoring Bob by sharing stories, as he was a storyteller himself, so if you feel compelled to do so, please come with one to share.
"That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!"

Was always fun chasing Bob riding our Harleys. I let him lead until he got lost. We laughed about that often. I'm sure he never confessed to anyone! Rest in peace my friend you are truly missed.
