Robert L. Anglin, 96, of Roanoke, Indiana, died at 5:10 am, Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne. He was born on February 27, 1929, to Dale and Mildred (Gay) Anglin in
Nappanee, Indiana.
He attended school in Etna Green and graduated from Atwood High School in 1947. He met his future wife, Donna Holloway, that summer. They were married September 13, 1949 while he was serving in the Air Force. They moved to Wabash in 1952. In 1965 with Donna by his side, he started his own business, Anglin Public Accounting and Tax Preparation. They continued this until their retirement on December 31, 2000. During these years, from 1970 to 1990, he served as Executive Secretary to the Wabash County United Fund. He and Donna were honored by the Chamber of Commerce as "Distinguished Citizens" in 1990. He was a Rotarian, served on the Board of Directors of Falls Cemetery, and was a member of the Hanna Masonic Lodge. As a mason, he received a 50 year award of gold and a 50 year past master award of gold.
He was an avid golfer and achieved what every amateur golfer chases, a hole in one, which he achieved in 2001 at Etna Acres Golf Course, hole #12.
Robert was a die hard Chicago Cubs fan and took his sons to games as often as possible. The family enjoyed camping and often took camping trips to St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Chicago to see weekend Cub games.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and they reciprocated their love for their grandpa. Family gatherings were always a fun time for everyone.
After Donna's death in 2008 he began volunteering at the Winchester Senior Center. He continued this until Covid temporarily closed the facility.
He is survived by his children, Cathy (John) Kunkel, Greybull, WY, Elaine Carrothers, Alvaton, KY, Jane Hahn,
Roanoke, IN, and Phil (Gail) Anglin, Pompano Beach, FL, daughter-in-law, Carol Anglin, Ft Wayne, IN, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Richard Anglin, Dayton, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Donna, who died on August 30, 2008. A son, Timothy Anglin, who died in 2021, his parents, and sister, Marjorie Gast.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, January 30, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Mike Bullick officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 12:30 - 2:00 pm, Friday, at the funeral home.
