Tracy Temple Wimberly, 83, of Wabash, Indiana, died Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. She was born on January 6, 1943, in Wabash, to Howard Rex "Bud" and Julia Ann (Smallwood) Temple.
Tracy was a 1961 graduate of Wabash High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Indiana University. She married Rev. W. William "Bill" Wimberly, II at the Wabash Presbyterian Church on June 22, 1968. They shared many years together before his passing on February 28, 2024. She was a teacher and taught in schools in Wabash, Owen County, and LaPorte, Indiana.
A lifelong member of the Wabash Presbyterian Church, Tracy was also involved in Tri Kappa Sorority, the Round Table of Wabash, and the LaPorte Poetry Club. Her interests were as wide-ranging as they were heartfelt: she loved reading, traveling, listening to music, singing, appreciating fine art, attending theatre performances, writing poetry, and playing cards – especially cribbage and bridge. Tracy thrived in social settings and was deeply committed to civic life in her community.
Tracy was well read and quick witted. Her warmth, her intellect, and her general curiosity of others, left a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by two sons, Ware William (Maggie) Wimberly, III of Wabash, and Alexander Temple (Kiran) Wimberly of Ballycastle, Northern Ireland; five grandchildren, Amira Siddiqui of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Eva Wimberly, Amos Wimberly and Phoebe Wimberly, all of Ballycastle, Northern Ireland, and Rebecca Wimberly of Wabash; and her brother, Tony (Candy) Temple of Wabash. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Wabash Presbyterian Church, 123 W. Hill Street, Wabash. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 1-2 pm Thursday, at the church. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash.
