Robert Nelson Archer was welcomed into heaven by Jesus on March 21, 2025. Born in Shadyside, Ohio, on November 25, 1933, son of the late Elmer and Edith Archer. He lived in Wisconsin most of his life, retiring to Ohio in 2001.
Bob's occupation was automotive engineering, and he specialized in vehicle testing as the manager of the American Motors Proving Grounds in Burlington, Wisconsin. He also worked for Harley Davidson as a high-speed film crash specialist from 1989 until 2000. Bob was known for a dry sense of humor and his many humorous stories. Bob had an ability to diagnose any vehicle issue, both professionally and for friends.
Bob was a member of the Masons for his entire adult life with a membership achievement of 70 years. Bob was active with youth as a "Dad" with the DeMolay chapter in Burlington, Wisconsin, for more than a decade. He served his community well.
His favorite hobby was woodworking. Over his life he assembled a complete woodworking shop where he developed the skills to create nearly any type of wooden article for home, friends, or church. In addition, Bob enjoyed working with friends and teaching anyone who had interest in woodworking. Challenges to create were always accepted.
Bob took great satisfaction in serving his church by singing in the choir and playing handbells. He also deepened his relationship with his savior, Jesus, through Bible study. Addressing church needs where his skills could be appropriately applied brought him particular joy.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and his two children, Louise (Jeff) Gibson and David (Joanna) Archer; four grandchildren: Payton (Brianna) Gibson, Brittany Gibson, Bryce Archer, and Spencer Archer; and one great-grandchild, Silas Gibson.
Visitation will be held on March 27, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11am, at First Baptist Church of Wheeling, with Pastor Darrin Wright officiating. Entombment at Holly Memorial Gardens to follow.
He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

March 25, 2025

I am mourning the loss of my "big brother" cousin Bob. He was in and out of my life for 70+ years. He was a valuable resource in filling in the blanks for me regarding his Uncle Nelson, my father, who passed before I could really remember him. He was one-of-a-kind..steadfast, absolutely solid in his opinions and beliefs yet surprisingly tolerant of those of others. I am a proud alumni of the University of Bob and I´m sure of we were to have a graduation ceremony, I would be one of many. RIP, Bob...I am and will be missing you. Your cousin, Greg
