Robert Arthur Baehr, known to many as Bob, passed away in his home on February 2, 2025, in Spring Hill, Florida. He was born on October 29, 1947, in Trenton, New Jersey.
Bob pursued higher education at Windham College in Putney, Vermont, where he earned a bachelor's degree in psychology. His career began as an Assistant General Manager with the Woolco company before he transitioned into entrepreneurship. In 1983, alongside his father Arthur Baehr, Bob co-founded Country Club Cars of Florida, Inc., the first golf cart company in Hernando County. Their business flourished and became a cornerstone of the community. Bob successfully ran the company until his retirement in 2005 when he sold it; the business continues to thrive today.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bob had a deep passion for bass fishing. He not only enjoyed the sport but also crafted custom fishing rods and repaired rods and reels with great skill. A dedicated member of the West Hernando Bass Club, he served as tournament director for many years. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond fishing-he was an avid NASCAR fan who faithfully followed Dale Earnhardt's #3 car and made annual trips with friends to the Daytona 500 during that era. He also cheered passionately for his favorite teams: the Tampa Bay Lightning, Rays, and Buccaneers.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; his children Doug, Lisa, and Brian; as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Shirley Vandenberg Baehr and Arthur Baehr.
Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. As a tribute to his memory: "Death leaves a heartache, but love leaves a memory no one can steal."
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HPH Hospice Spring Hill/Brooksville office.
