Robert "Clark" Baker of Cuba, Missouri passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the St. James Living Center in St. James, Missouri at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 8 days. He was born October 3, 1952 in Rolla, Missouri to Eugene Alexander Baker and Veneta Johnson.
Clark had attended Huzzah Baptist Church in years past. Clark graduated from Fort Zumwalt High School in O'Fallon, MO and then attended Missouri University St. Louis for a few semesters. In 1976, he joined the U.S. Air Force until 1980, serving honorably. In April of 1976, Clark was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Scheetz at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. After he returned to St. Louis, Clark went to work for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis as an electronic communication analysist, retiring after 40 plus years.
He was a member of the Wentzville Masonic Lodge #46, receiving recognition in 2024 for being a 50 -year Master Mason and was a member of the Daniel Boone DeMolay Chapter in Wentzville. Clark was also an active member of the Clan Hunter of Scotland, tracing his genealogy back to the year 1107. Clark also enjoyed being involved in the local history of Crawford County while serving as treasurer of Sanders-Huzzah Cemetery for over fifteen years. He loved to write and research about his family and kept it all recorded on his computer and notebooks. Clark also loved to write poems and was honored by one he wrote in 2002 called "Sorghum Day Prayer" which was read in Congress and is now on display in the National Library in Washington, DC.
He loved to watch European Rugby games and British films. Clark also loved to cook and bake bread and always stated how "he loved to eat."
Clark was a very generous person who helped others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Baker and Veneta Johnson; wife, Barbara Jean Scheetz Baker Lane; nephew, David Zachritz; and nephew-in-law, Bob Tash.
He will be sadly missed by his brother, Sheldon Zachritz of Cuba, MO; niece, Shelly Tash of Steelville, MO; many cousins; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
The Masonic Service was held at 1:00 p.m. by the Steelville Masonic Lodge #77.
The Funeral Service was held immediately following the Masonic Services with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "Country Comfort" and "Be Thou My Vision" was played.
Services were Live Streamed on the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home Facebook Page.
Full Military Honors were held immediately after the funeral with the U.S. Air Force at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Sanders-Huzzah Cemetery, Huzzah, MO.
The Baker Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
Memorials may be given in Clark's name to Sanders-Huzzah Cemetery, 603 Hobo Road, Steelville, MO 65565
