Robert "William" (Bill) Ballard, 88, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023, in Tucson, AZ. He was born August 18, 1934 in Evansville, IN to the late Thelma (Riffert) and Benjamin Ballard. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brothers, James Donald and W. Eugene Ballard.
After graduating from Reitz Memorial High School in 1952, Bill attended St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, IN. His financial career began at Union Federal Savings & Loan, in Evansville, IN. He later achieved employment at First Federal Savings & Loan in Vincennes, IN and retired as Executive Vice President.
Bill was a faithful and devout Catholic and held memberships in Evansville, IN, Vincennes, IN, Sarasota, FL, and Tucson, AZ. He held memberships in Civitan Club, Home Builders Association, Knights of Columbus (4th degree Grand Knight), and served as President of the School Board of Vincennes Catholic Schools. He enjoyed singing with the Hoosier Heritage Barbershop Quartet.
Bill is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Tamara (Morgan) Ballard; daughters, Bridget A. (Gregory) Ballard Cummins, Brenda (John) Ballard Alfson, Beth (David) Ballard Black and Amy Lynn (Kurt) Ballard Neely; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2023 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue, Evansville. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 at All Saints Parish – St. Joseph Church Campus, 600 E. Virginia St., Evansville where he will be honored by the Knights of Columbus. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
