Corporal Samuel James Laffoon, 39, of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025 in Evansville. He was born October 4, 1985 in Madisonville, Kentucky to the late Paulette (DeVore) and Bobby Gene Laffoon.

Corporal Samuel James Laffoon faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He enlisted in 2018 and proudly served as a 25H, Network Communication Systems Specialist, a critical role in maintaining and supporting the Army's communication networks and mission systems.

Throughout his military career, Corporal Laffoon served with dedication and distinction at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Fort Gordon, Georgia; and Fort Jackson, South Carolina. His professionalism, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence contributed greatly to the success of every unit to which he was assigned.

His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (2), Army Achievement Medal (1), Army Good Conduct Medal (2), National Defense Service Medal (1), and Army Service Ribbon (1).

Corporal Samuel James Laffoon's loyal service, integrity, and devotion to duty brought great credit upon himself, his units, and the United States Army. His legacy of service and sacrifice will forever be remembered and honored.

Corporal Laffoon spoke several languages and had a natural talent for technology. He loved expressing his creativity through drawing and spent his free time playing pool and video games. Samuel was a gentle soul-always kind, caring, and ready to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife, Shauna Fisher; sons, Riley Laffoon and Xander Laffoon; stepson, Jaden Miller; brother, John Daniel Laffoon (Kim); sister, Jessica Lee Coursey (Jason); and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. Visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the funeral home. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Jason Coursey officiating. The service will be livestreamed at www.ziemerfuneralhome.com on Samuel's tribute page.

Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Old Suthard Cemetery in Earlington, Kentucky with full Military Honors.
