Saundra "Sandy" Kay Balsdon, age 73, of Evansville, IN, peacefully entered her heavenly home at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
Sandy was born November 23, 1951, in Henderson, KY to William Hibbs and Alta Hicks. She graduated from North High School in 1969. Sandy later attended Ivy Tech Community College to follow her passion for Accounting. She was an important part of the office staff while working for Jerry's Market, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Sunset Funeral Home. Sandy selflessly cared for her daughter, Stacy.
Sandy was a member of Grace Baptist Church for 50 years. She had a love for Jesus and was not afraid to share the word with anyone. She led Sunday school classes and Bible Studies. She sang in the choir, decorated for holidays, and made generous donations. She always took the time to ensure the events were filled with beautiful decor. Sometimes, she would create the furnishings herself. Sandy truly was an integral part of the church.
She was well traveled and enjoyed sharing her love of exploration with family and friends. A Diet Coke from McDonald's was a favorite, for sure. Sandy enjoyed playing games. At Christmastime, she would create a game for family to enjoy while graciously providing endless, thoughtful gifts. She was a very giving person that loved life. She opened her heart to anyone to make them feel included.
Sandy's legacy will continue through her loved ones. She is survived by her son, Craig Balsdon (Ashley); daughter, Stacy Balsdon; grandchildren, Zachary Balsdon, Bennett Balsdon, Dallas Balsdon, and Denver Balsdon; brother, Jim Hibbs (Myra); stepbrother, Donnie Hicks; and brother-in-law, Bruce Balsdon (Debbie).
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Jerry Balsdon; brothers, Steven Hibbs and Roger Hibbs; sister, Cynthia Henderson; and stepsister, Sharyl Martinez.
As we remember Sandy Balsdon, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with generosity, love, and a faith in God. Sandy's presence will be profoundly missed, but her memory will be forever treasured in our hearts. We take solace in knowing that she is now reunited in heaven with loved ones passed and in the eternal embrace of our Lord, where every day is a testament to the love she brought to our lives on earth.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714. A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Tom Savage and Pastor Josh Goepfrich officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 1200 N. Garvin Street, Evansville, IN 47711 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
