Robert L. Bartsch, age 95 of Glen Dale, WV died Thursday, August 22, 2024 in Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas, WV.
He was born August 21, 1929 in Wheeling, WV the son of the late William "Bill" and Stella Bartsch.
He was a 1947 Graduate of Union High School; a respected and proud businessman, as the owner and operator of Tri-State Machine, Wheeling, until his retirement at the age of 86; a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Glen Dale; an avid fisherman who loved fishing trips to Canada, and loved his special fishing hole in Dry Fork; in his younger years, he was a boxer who won the "Golden Glove"; and he enjoyed golfing, having been, at one time, the oldest member of the Moundsville Country Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bartsch; two sons, Gary and Michael "Mick" Bartsch; and two brothers, Richard and George Bartsch.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Cindy Bartsch of Glen Dale; two grandsons, Eric Bartsch of Glen Dale, and Rob (Mariann) Bartsch of Wheeling; and five great-grandchildren, Bailee, Nolan, Alexis, Codi and Braydon.
The family would like to thank the staff of Courtland Acres, Thomas, WV for their care.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11am at St. Jude Catholic Church, 710 Jefferson Ave., Glen Dale with Fr. John Ledford as celebrant.
Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church.
