Robert Paul "Bip" Basista Jr.

Robert Paul "Bip" Basista Jr., 71, passed away on June 6, 2024, in Richmond, VA. Born on March 28, 1953, in Duquesne, PA, Robert was a man of faith, characterized by his forthrightness and strong personality. He was loving, and known for his humility and courage. Robert spent most of his professional life as a bricklayer, displaying a remarkable aptitude for various trades. He was adept at repairing automobiles, constructing homes, addressing plumbing issues, and operating a forklift. Above all, his greatest pride was in being a father to his daughters, a role he cherished and fulfilled with exceptional dedication. He attended high school at he old Garfield, now The Dr. A.J. Ferlazzo Building. His hobbies included football, fishing, watching NASCAR and wrestling, all of which brought joy and relaxation to his life. Robert is survived by his daughters, Kelly Lynn Spurlin, and Nancy Lynn Ryan; his grandchildren, K Sea Breeze, Ryan Reese Spurlin, Haley Brianna Stoneman, Irwin Francis Liming V, Jazlynn Mae Ryan, and Jaelynn Michelle Ryan; his great-grandchildren, Keith DeWayne Robinson Jr., Isabella Lynn Page, Khalil Jacob Spurlin, and Luna Augustine Page; his sisters, Denise Blazek, Debra Goding, and Diane Strickland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Paul Basista Sr.; his mother, Julia Mae Basista; his wife, Pamela Denise Winters; and his granddaughter, Kaylee Ellis Spurlin. Services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 7p-9p at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home & Crematory, 13318 Occoquan Road, Woodbridge, VA 22191.
