Robert "Bob" Lee Beard, 90, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025. Together with his brother, Bob was raised by his parents, the late Earl A. and Almeda (Auman) Beard, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. It was there he met his cherished wife of 57 years, the late Martha E. (Glassmoyer) Beard.
Bob was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who proudly served his country throughout the United States and overseas, most notably in Morocco. After his honorable discharge from the service, Bob received a B.S. in Business Administration from Penn State University.
Martha and Bob reconnected through mutual friends, and were married in 1962. They lived in several Northeastern states, ultimately settling in Warwick, where they raised their beloved daughters.
Bob was a longtime employee of Sears-Roebuck and Co. and later Ocean State Job Lot, where he served in leadership and managerial roles. He was a member of the American Legion Elmwood Post 60 in Cranston, proudly serving as its Commander in the early 2000s.
Never one to stay idle, Bob enjoyed woodworking, household projects and tinkering in his workshop. A true craftsman, every task he took on was executed meticulously. Bob was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling to warmer climates. He loved all animals but had a special place in his heart for his canine best friend, Emily.
Bob had a strong sense of duty in all aspects of his life, and through his quiet acts of love, he demonstrated his devotion to his family.
Bob was the loving father of Linda Fairtile and Elaine Rothermel, father-in-law to John Rothermel and the late Brian Fairtile, Pappy to Matthew J. Rothermel and his wife Taylor, and special great-Pappy to Hayley. He was the brother of the late Earl R. Beard, and uncle to five nieces and nephews.
Bob's family would like to thank the staffs of All-American Assisted Living and Brentwood Nursing and Rehabilitation for their compassionate care during his final years.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 10am at the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick, followed by interment with full Military Honors in the RI Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
