Mr. Robert Dean Bentley, formerly of Lockhart, widower of Cora Nichols Bentley, passed away, Friday, January 24, 2025.
Mr. Bentley was born January 10, 1943, a son of the late Robert Russell Bentley and Carrie Mae Petty Bentley. He was a graduate of Lockhart High School and Spartanburg Technical College. Mr. Bentley retired as a Welding Inspector from Duke Power. He was a lifetime member of Lockhart Masonic Lodge #244, where he was Past Master. He was also a member of Tall Cedars, Scottish Rites, and York Rites.
Surviving are three children, Lori Ann Brannon and husband Wayne of Union, Deanna Gay Burns and husband Randall of Lockhart, and Newton Russell Bentley and wife Donna of Union; three grandchildren, Paigan Caroline Bentley, Ollie Virginia Burns, and Carrie Ann Cochran; two great-grandsons, Ben Sanders and Nolan Reid; and a sister, Kay Nousen and husband Stephen of Mexico. He was predeceased by a grandson, Anthony Brannon.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Sam Baine. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Paul McCutcheon, Jerry McCutcheon, Mark Bentley, Tracy Rash, Logan Vanderford, and Dale Inman. Members of Masonic Lodge #244 are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM prior to the services at the church.
The family would like to thank Wren Hospice and the Nurses, CNAs, and Staff of Post Acute Care of D Wing.
Memorials may be made to Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church, 126 Askew Circle, Union, SC 29379.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Lori Brannon and husband Wayne, 338 Sleepy Hallow Lane, Union, SC 29379.
